After appearing in both Captain America movies, it looks as though Hayley Atwell is returning to the MCU… this time, bringing Marvel‘s Agent Carter to the Ant-Man movie.
Although details remain scarce regarding the upcoming Ant-Man movie, it looks as though a rather revealing casting call may have just shed some light on a cameo appearance…
“NLC is searching for an experienced stand in for Hayley Atwell,” it reads. “She is 31, 5’7″, 112 lbs. This will work in November on a Sunday. Please submit to nlcstandin@gmail.com with your headshot, age, height, weight and sizes. Must have experience. Thanks.”
Of course, with ‘Ant-Man’ currently shooting in Atlanta, it’s no big secret which film they’re currently hiring for. And it seems that this is one cameo that’s already out of the bag. But it’s certainly not the first time we’ve seen Agent Carter linked to this production…
“In earlier drafts of the script, Hank Pym in the first act prologue has a meeting at S.H.I.E.L.D,” revealed the folks at the Latino Review. “And meets up with Howard Stark, Peggy Carter, Armin Zola and a young Alexander Pearce.”
Obviously, if the stand-in is for Hayley Atwell, this means that Ant-Man takes a giant leap into the past… and considering that this takes place in the first act, it’s not exactly a huge surprise. After all, we’ve heard rumours for some time that part of the movie will see a young Hank Pym donning the Ant-Man suit.
But how does Agent Carter tie into all this?
It looks as though Hank Pym may have been working very closely with S.H.I.E.L.D. even before the Avengers initiative. And that means that Ant-Man could very well be one of the first Avengers to work with the agency… even predating Captain America himself.
Of course, this raises all kinds of questions… most importantly, how Pym got tangled up with S.H.I.E.L.D. in the first place. But for now, we’ll have to wait and see.
Either way, it looks as though we can expect a very cool cameo from the coolest agent of all.
