It looks as though Amber Heard’s Justice League role is now official.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the 29-year-old actress has signed up for the role of Mera in Justice League: Part One and will also appear in the upcoming Aquaman film.
“Amber Heard is ready to go under the sea for Justice League,” they revealed. “First reported as in negotiations for the role of Mera in the superhero film back in January, Heard discussed her part and costume in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight.”
“It’s interesting,” she explained. “I’m wearing, like, half suit of armor, half scales. It’s strange.” And it certainly sounds a lot like Jason Momoa’s Aquaman costume. “But we’re in the process of building it now. It’s coming along.”
Amber Heard’s Mera will first appear in the upcoming Justice League: Part One which begins filming on 11 April this year.
The character will then likely appear in Aquaman in 2018.
Justice League: Part One stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg and Ezra Miller as The Flash.
“It was a little bit of an ‘about time’ moment, and I don’t blame [the studio] for feeling that way, because it’s a long time coming,” said director Zack Snyder about the upcoming Justice League movie. “But I do feel like it’s a little bit of a creative hurdle. It seems like an easy thing to do at first glance, the idea that, ‘Oh, we just get the rest of the superheroes in there.’ But you have to [establish] a world where they can exist.”
Justice League: Part One heads to cinemas on 17 November 2017.
