It’s no secret that The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is supposedly postponed. But a new casting call may confirms that Spider-Man will be back… and it reveals some very important returning actors.
It’s no secret that Sony’s Spider-Man efforts have left a lot to be desired… and after the recent Sony hack, Andrew Garfield’s future as Marvel’s webslinger was left in doubt. But now a new casting call has gone out, looking for Extras for the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man sequel.
And it looks as though Andrew Garfield and Dane DeHaan will be back.
Thanks to a casting call via Bill Beckman Casting, it seems that the much rumoured Amazing Spider-Man 3 is pushing forward into production.
The casting call lists the production name as The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and while they’re looking for “extras male/female, 18-65, all races/ethnicities” it seems that these lucky artists will be working alongside both Andrew Garfield and Dane DeHaan.
Unfortunately, there are no details listed for when the production will begin shooting… although the location is listed as “Atlanta, GA”.
But does this mean that Andrew Garfield’s role is safe? And will the Green Goblin return?
After the recent Sony hacks, fans were left wondering whether Andrew Garfield’s time as Peter Parker had come to an end. But with reports that the Sinister Six movie would take precedence over the upcoming Spidey sequel, perhaps Dane DeHaan’s role was secure all along.
But could this indicate that Marvel’s negotiations for their famous webslinger are far from over?
It’s already well known that Marvel is keen to regain control of Spider-Man… and was recently revealed to have been in negotiations for an appearance in the MCU.
But one of the conditions of the proposed agreement was that Sony would have to create another solo Spider-Man movie. And after Sony was thought to have abandoned Amazing Spider-Man 3 in favour of the ‘Sinister Six’ this looked unlikely.
If this casting call is legitimate, it looks as though Sony may have had a change of heart… and I can’t help wondering whether this has something to do with that Marvel deal. Have the studios come to some sort of agreement?
For now, we’ll have to wait and see… but the sudden development of a Spider-Man sequel is rather curious to say the least.
