It’s time for Ant-Man to give us a closer look at the miniature hero, in its first full trailer… and he’s never looked so awesome.
Officially unveiled today by the folks at Marvel, this impressive first trailer points a magnifying glass at the world’s tiniest hero… and in this first look, we get an excellent idea of just how powerful Pym’s shrinking technology really is.
And Paul Rudd makes a truly marvellous Ant-Man.
But first, it looks as though Pym’s particles are of interest to the military…
“Imagine a soldier the size of an insect,” says a rather ominous voice. “The ultimate secret weapon.”
Clearly, the original Ant-Man – Hank Pym – has other ideas… and in this trailer, we get a much clearer idea of Darren Cross’s motives. It looks as though Pym’s prodigy is pissed that the ageing scientist has kept his greatest creation from him.
“You tried to hide your suit from me,” he says. “Now, it’s going to blow up in your face and destroy everyone you care about.”
And that hasn’t stopped him from duplicating the experiment.
Of course, we’re finally treated to a proper look at the villainous Yellowjacket in action. Firing up his combat-ready version of the shrinking Ant-Man suit, it looks as though poor old Scott Lang has his work cut out for him.
It’s a truly impressive start for one of Marvel’s smallest heroes… both in stature and brand recognition. But with an action-packed, gag-filled look at Marvel’s next big blockbuster, I get the feeling it’s suddenly going to attract a lot more fans.
And let’s face it – a miniature superhero fight atop a train set? Amazing.
Ant-Man heads to cinemas on 17 July 2015.
