He won’t be back… at least not in The Predator.
Arnold Schwarzenegger won’t be appearing in The Predator – the upcoming sci-fi sequel from director, Shane Black. But it’s nothing to do with money… he just wanted a bigger part.
“They asked me, and I read it, and I didn’t like it – whatever they offered,” he told Yahoo! Movies. “So I’m not going to do that, no. Except if there’s a chance that they rewrite it, or make it a more significant role. But the way it is now, no, I won’t do that.”
Sadly, it looks as though that’s that.
After all, with The Predator essentially moving in a new direction, I’m guessing a brief cameo was all they could manage without forcibly cramming Major Alan ‘Dutch’ Schaefer back into the movie.
But it’s already caused Predator fans a fair bit of heartbreak… as well as the director himself, Shane Black, who commented on Schwarzenegger’s remarks after a fan reached out to him on Twitter.
“I spoke with him,” explained Black. “I think it was that he didn’t have enough to do. Enough presence in the film.”
Either way, it’s a sad turn of events…
And The Predator will have to find someone else to tell everyone to get on the chopper. But despite Arnie turning his back on the production, it looks as though The Predator is shaping up to be a pretty solid film, with an already excellent cast.
Will it top the original? For now, we’ll have to wait and see. But it looks like a fun action flick, either way.
The predator stars Boyd Holbrook, Olivia Munn, Trevante Rhodes, Keegan-Michael Key, Alfie Allen, Edward James Olmos and Jacob Tremblay.
Shane Black directed the movie based on his own script.
The Predator heads to cinemas on 9 February 2018.
