Arrow Season 5: Deathstroke Will Return

Manu Bennet will return as Deathstroke for the upcoming Arrow Season 5 finale.

11th April 2017 by Ryan Leston

Arrow Deathstroke

Deathstroke will return in Arrow Season 5.

It’s official – Manu Bennett is suiting up as Slade Wilson (aka Deathstroke) for the upcoming Arrow Season 5 finale. And he could be helping the Green Arrow take on a common foe.

Appearing on Twitter, Arrow star Stephen Amell almost destroyed the internet by dropping this particular bombshell.

“Desperate times call for desperate measures,” he said. “Welcome back @manubennett.”

And he even included a picture of Deathstroke’s iconic helmet…

“Guess there’s really no point in hiding it anymore…” he tweeted, along with a snap of the episode’s script. And rather tellingly, it looks as though the episode is titled: “Lian Yu” – the name of the island where Oliver first met Slade Wilson… and where he was later locked up in an A.R.G.U.S. prison cell.

Of course, details of Deathstroke’s role in the season finale are being kept tightly under wraps… but if you were expecting Oliver and Slade to go head-to-head once more, you may be in for a bit of a surprise.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, writer Wendy Mericle teased an unlikely ally in Oliver’s quest to bring down Prometheus and Talia al Ghul.

And that has to be Deathstroke… right?

“The alliances are going to be very surprising, you’re not going to believe who Oliver is working with to defeat Prometheus. It’s going to be really emotional. It’s going to be all about Oliver’s family, but not the family we’re thinking of right now. It’s going to end in a giant explosion, but not where we think it’s going to end, and the emotional punch is going to be bigger than the actual physical part of the bombs going off.”

Deathstroke To Appear In Suicide Squad?

Of course, Stephen Amell’s own comments echo this sentiment – “Desperate times call for desperate measures”… and it looks as though Oliver may be forced to turn to an old nemesis to take down his foes.

Quite how this all works out remains to be seen.

What do you think of the return of Deathstroke? Should they keep him around for Season 6? Let us know what you think in the comments below…
