After appearing in the mediocre Marvel movie The Incredible Hulk, it looks as though Tim Roth was approached to reprise the role of Abomination.
Let’s face it The Incredible Hulk isn’t exactly the greatest Marvel movie.
In fact, it’s often heralded as one of the worst we’ve seen to date. But for the first time, it introduced Tim Roth as the Abomination. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen a Hulk stand-alone movie since… and Abomination’s fate remains unknown.
But it looks as though he almost appeared in Avengers: Age of Ultron…
During an interview with Crave Online, the 53-year-old British actor revealed that he had been approached to appear in the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron.
“They were going to do it,” he said. “They did do that. They were thinking, in the Avengers two or something. There was a film we could do at that one point, but way back when. It just kinda got swept under the carpet I guess. That would be hilarious.”
Of course, Tim Roth first appeared in The Incredible Hulk opposite Edward Norton… and his portrayal of Emil Blonsky – an officer under General Ross who clearly wants the power of The Hulk – is probably the high point of the movie.
But could he appear again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
I can’t help thinking that ship has probably sailed… and with Marvel seemingly keen to distance themselves from Edward Norton’s stint as the Hulk, it looks as though Blonsky may have seen better days.
But could Tim Roth appear elsewhere?
I have to admit, Roth is one of my favourite British actors… and personally, I’d love to see him appear in another Marvel movie. Could they find a place for him in the upcoming Phase Three? For now, we’ll have to wait and see.
But for now, it looks as though the Abomination has gone AWOL.
Do you think Abomination could return? Will Tim Roth get another shot at the MCU? Let us know what you think in the comments below…
