Batman V Superman Gets A Female Robin?

Batman V Superman may feature a female Robin, with Jena Malone reportedly landing the coveted role.

19th October 2014 by Ryan Leston

Batman V Superman may get a female Robin.

It looks as though Batman V Superman will feature a female Robin, with Catching Fire star Jena Malone landing the coveted role, according to a new report.

The 29-year-old actress has been linked to DC‘s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice after an extra reportedly leaked the story to local news channel, WILX News 10. And after she was spotted on set, it looks as though Malone will be donning the red and green superhero outfit to fight alongside Ben Affleck’s Batman.

Gotham Casts Homeland’s Morena Baccarin

Of course, this isn’t the first time that Malone has been rumoured for the role of Carrie Kelley – the female Robin who appeared in Frank Miller’s seminal graphic novel, The Dark Knight Returns.

In fact, after posting an image of her new, fiery look on Instagram, it wasn’t long before she was linked to the role.

Obviously, ‘The Dark Knight Returns’ has been rumoured to be a basis for the upcoming movie for some time… especially after the initial announcement of ‘Batman V Superman’ borrowed quotes from the highly-praised graphic novel.

But what’s been happening on set?

According to WILX News 10 reporters, a fight scene between Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne and Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor has been filmed at Michigan State University. The scene in question apparently involves a red carpet function and high profile party… which soon gets a bit out of hand.

Apparently involving heavy use of special effects and a strong military presence, I’d say that it certainly escalates beyond a fist fight. But quite how Jena Malone’s Robin fits into this is a very big question.

Obviously, there’s also the matter of Jena Malone’s contract. If she has signed on as Carrie Kelley, could this mean further appearances in the ‘Justice League’ movie? And what about the recently announced solo Batman film?

The Flash Gets His Very Own Solo Movie

For now, we’ll have to wait and see… but it sounds as though she might have a busy few years ahead.

Do you think Jena Malone will star as a female Robin? Have these reports from the set given the game away? Let us know what you think in the comments below…
