Although Batman V Superman will be getting an official trailer anytime now, it looks as though the entire thing has been leaked online.
According to Variety, the low-res trailer was briefly leaked online… and the usually-respectable entertainment site chose to continue making the video available.
“The highly anticipated trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice briefly leaked online on Thursday,” they revealed. “Shot on a handheld camera or phone, the unauthorized video featured Portuguese subtitles–a sign it may have been from Brazil–and was quickly removed from YouTube.”
Of course, the trailer has been scheduled to appear in select IMAX theatres across the USA on Monday… and the trailer’s leak is surely a thorn in their side after managing to keep a lid on it for so long.
But perhaps most surprisingly was Varity’s decision to continue making the video available.
Having downloaded the video and then linking it to their article, the entertainment site chose to make the illegally leaked video available to the public. Although they have since removed the video – possibly at the behest of Warner Bros. themselves.
But now the trailer has been seen by thousands… and the content is already out there.
Giving us a first glimpse at Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck as they square up to each other, the rather revealing trailer hints at the reason why the DC heavyweights eventually clash… and it looks as though Superman is struggling with a bit of a bad reputation after the battle with Zod in Metropolis.
Of course, we wouldn’t dream of including the teaser trailer here… so you’ll have to wait for it to appear online after its debut next week. But from what we’ve seen so far, it seems that it could be a dark time ahead for the DC universe.
Let’s just hope they manage to settle their differences.
Batman V Superman heads to cinemas on 25 March 2016.
