Captain America and Iron Man will go head-to-head a lot sooner than we thought… as it’s revealed that Captain America: Civil War is due to start filming in April.
According to Collider, the Captain America sequel will begin filming as early as next month…even before the new Avengers movie hits cinemas.
“Right as Avengers: Age of Ultron enters hype overdrive ahead of its release on May 1st, another Marvel film dealing with the fallout of that titular team’s impending adventure is ready for its close-up,” they revealed.
“Captain America: Civil War is pretty much ready to get in front of the cameras,” they said. “Casting notices for extras (with many ethnicities being sought) have gone out in Atlanta with a shooting date of April 1st pinned down, though filming could commence even earlier than that (whether or not these notices are for first or second unit is unconfirmed).”
Of course, Marvel fans will be over the moon – after all, it means we could get our first glimpse at Iron Man and Captain America in just a few short weeks. And that’s something to get pretty excited about.
But what is the movie about? Marvel comic book fans will already be familiar with the concept… but for the rest of you, the casting notice provides this handy synopsis.
“Following the events of Age of Ultron, the collective governments of the world pass an act designed to regulate all superhuman activity. This polarizes opinion amongst the Avengers, causing two factions to side with Iron Man or Captain America, which causes an epic battle between former allies.”
Of course, this is exactly what we all assumed would happen… so there’s really no surprise. But it’s still nice to see how the events of Age of Ultron will lead into Civil War. And it’s great to think that we may shortly see the first scenes of Civil War being filmed – a comic book movie that many of us thought would never happen.
There are also rumours that Sony’s new Spider-Man may appear in the upcoming movie… and we may find out all about it sooner rather than later.
Will the all-new Spider-Man appear in Civil War? For now, we have to wait and see. But with filming just around the corner, it won’t be long before we find out.
Captain America: Civil War heads to cinemas on 29 April 2016.
