Batman V Superman will include Captain Carrie Farris – the soldier with a Superman crush in Man of Steel.
Although the good Captain Farris had only a minor role in Man of Steel, it looks as though she’s set to return in DC‘s upcoming Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. But what does that tell us about the upcoming movie? Well, it seems that actress Christina Wren has confirmed that Batman V Superman will address some of those Superman-related issues from Man of Steel…
During an interview with Pittsburgh Magazine, the Man of Steel actress admitted that she will return in the upcoming superhero epic.
“The casting director just got in touch with me,” she explained. “I got to know her a bit through the first project, Man of Steel because she had to hunt me down a little bit; she just called me directly, which is always nice. It’s more personal.”
Of course, this seem to suggest a strong military presence in the upcoming Batman V Superman and perhaps that was to be expected. After all, two of earth’s greatest heroes are about to go head-to-head.
And you thought the destruction in Man of Steel was bad…
But while the two heroes will obviously be duking it out, it looks as though the destructive events of Man of Steel may just shed some light on their conflict.
“I think it’s going to be badass,” she said of Batman V Superman. “They’re just such an awesome team. The bits that I was on set for look fantastic; everyone in it is fantastic. It’s exciting; it’s high-energy; it’s high-action. They are addressing all of the things that they set up in ‘Man of Steel’.”
Of course, Man of Steel was highly criticised for its wanton destruction throughout the fictional city of Metropolis. But it seems there may have been a point to it all. Setting up Superman as both a saviour and an alien threat, it looks as though Batman may in fact take umbrage with Superman’s methods.
A bit extreme, even for the Dark Knight?
Either way, it looks as though we’ll get some good reasoning behind the super-powered conflict… and perhaps even a good explanation for why the destruction of Metropolis was necessary.
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice heads to cinemas on 25 March 2016.
