Creed 2 has just cast Florian Munteanu as Ivan Drago’s son.
That’s right – we’ll see the son of the legendary Russian.
According to The Tracking Board, the Romanian boxer, also known as ‘Big Nasty’ in the ring, has joined the upcoming Creed sequel as Ivan Drago’s son, opposite Michael B. Jordan and Dolph Lundgren.
“Romanian boxer Florian Munteanu has been cast as Ivan Drago’s son in Creed 2,” they revealed, “which will see him take on Michael B. Jordan in the ring, the Tracking Board has exclusively learned.”
The upcoming Creed sequel features yet-another blast from the past – with Dolph Lundgren returning as Ivan Drago, it looks as though old rivals Drago and Rocky will be squaring off once more…
And more importantly, Adonis will get to confront the man who killed his father.
Appearing in Rocky IV in 1985 (at the height of the Cold War), Ivan Drago (played by Lundgren) was responsible for the death of Apollo Creed in the ring. Now, it looks as though Rocky and Adonis will get the chance to hit back at the Russian boxer.
Obviously, with Rocky still training Adonis, it looks as though Ivan Drago will be training his son… and this a new rivalry for a new generation is born.
How this plays out on the big screen remains to be seen.
But Creed 2 is already shaping up to be an incredibly interesting movie.
Creed 2 stars Michael B. Jordan, Sylvester Stallone, Tessa Thompsan, Dolph Lundgren, and Florian Munteanu.
Stephen Caple Jr will direct the movie, based on a script by Cheo Hodari Coker and Sylvester Stallone.
Creed 2 heads to cinemas on 21 November 2018.
