Another new name has joined Captain America: Civil War… and it’s Daniel Bruhl.
The 36-year-old star of Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds has reportedly signed up for the upcoming Captain America sequel… but we’re unfortunately none the wiser about which Marvel character he might be playing.
“Daniel Bruhl has joined the cast of Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, set to rock the Marvel Cinematic Universe on May 6, 2016,” said Marvel. “Bruhl joins Chris Evans, Robert Downey, Jr, and Chadwick Boseman in Captain America: Civil War, with Joe and Anthony Russo returning to direct.”
Of course, Bruhl is perhaps best known as Fredrick Zoller in Inglorious Basterds but has recently starred alongside Chris Hemsworth and Olivia Wilde in Ron Howard’s Rush. But what will he bring to the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
“With Daniel’s ability to deliver intense, nuanced performances, we knew we had found yet another great actor to share the screen with some of our biggest heroes,” said Producer Kevin Feige. But who exactly will he be playing?
So far, there’s been no official word on Bruhl’s character. But it looks as though there are plenty of fans and journalists alike who think they have some idea…
“Bruhl will play one of the sequel’s villains who could return in other Marvel movies including Doctor Strange,” said The Wrap. And let’s face it – it’s the sort of rumours that could well turn out to be true.
Of course, for now we’ll have to wait and see… but with a high number of superheroes taking part in the Civil War comic book storyline, it’s equally possible that Bruhl might appear in a more heroic role.
For now, we’ll just have to wait and see. But those expecting him to don Spider-Man’s classic blue and red colours will probably be sorely disappointed.
