Although Charlie Cox is yet to make his debut as Marvel’s Daredevil it looks as though he has his sights set on Captain America: Civil War.
During an interview with IGN, the 32-year-old Man Without Fear revealed that he’d love to join The Avengers on screen in the upcoming Civil War.
“I’ve been reading Civil War – and Daredevil does appear in that,” said Cox. “And look – again, just to clarify – I have not been called about that. I haven’t been invited to that party! But it would be very, very cool. Just to be in the background, saying cool stuff every now and then. It would be cool to be with all those guys.”
Of course, Cox definitely isn’t saying that he’s going to appear in the highly-anticipated Marvel movie – even if Daredevil was present for the Civil War comic book. But much like the rest of us, he’d love to see Daredevil alongside his fellow heroes.
Except, it wasn’t Matt Murdock who appeared in Civil War.
Instead, it was fellow acrobatic hero, Daniel Rand – more commonly known as Iron Fist – who donned the Daredevil costume throughout Civil War. And while Marvel is currently working on an Iron Fist TV series, we’re yet to find out who will be playing him.
And let’s face it – he’s unlikely to appear in Civil War.
Still, with the movies not following the Marvel comic books to the letter, it’s always possible to see Matt Murdock’s Daredevil lining up and picking a side. And I can’t help thinking he’d side with Cap once more.
But could there be a little tension on set? Although Cox relishes the thought of joining his fellow Marvel superheroes, it seems there’s on in particular where things might get a little awkward…
“Black Widow’s an ex-girlfriend of Matt’s” he said. “So… that would be awkward”.
Of course, the movies have yet to pair off Black Widow with any of her fellow heroes… that is, unless she and Bruce Banner have a bit of a thing. After all, those Age of Ultron trailers certainly suggest a bit more than friendship between the two Avengers.
But will Daredevil get to join them on set? For now, we’ll have to wait and see.
Captain America: Civil War heads to cinemas on 29 April 2016.
