It’s no secret that Bond 24 – the upcoming Skyfall sequel – is on the lookout for a soon-to-be-iconic henchman… and it looks as though Dave Bautista has landed the coveted role.
According to the Latino Review, Dave Bautista – who recently rose to fame as Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy – has nabbed the role of a Bond villain in Bond 24.
“According to sources,” they explain, “Dave Bautista, mega hot off his career-making role as Drax The Destroyer in Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy, has bagged the role of Hinx in the upcoming Bond 24.”
Of course, there’s already been plenty of speculation about Bond 24’s henchman, after a casting call was recently leaked online via MI6 HQ.
“We are looking to follow in the tradition of JAWS and ODDJOB in finding an iconic baddy,” reads the casting call. “Hinx (Male, 30 – 45). Ideally over 6′ 2″. Hinx is the main henchman/assassin. We are looking for an imposing extremely physically fit actor. He has several fights with Bond and will have to have stunt training. He has to drive. We are looking for someone very unusual, possibly from a sports background. Height: 180cm – 195cm.”
Obviously, it’s easy to see how Dave Bautista – a 6ft 6in professional wrestler – would really fit the bill. And after appearing in such an imposing way in the recent Marvel hit Guardians of the Galaxy it’s certainly not a stretch to see him at the top of any casting list.
But how does Bautista fit into the story of Bond 24? With almost no details to go on, for now we’ll just have to wait and see.
