The upcoming Deadpool movie is already looking for a leading lady… and its shortlist includes Morena Baccarin and Taylor Schilling.
According to Deadline Hollywood, the Gotham actress joins a rather impressive shortlist for a part in Deadpool… and there are six names on that list.
“20th Century Fox has made test deals with a small group of actresses for the female lead opposite Ryan Reynolds on Deadpool,” they revealed. “Here are four of the actresses: Morena Baccarin… Taylor Schilling… Crystal Reed… and Rebecca Rittenhouse.”
But that’s not all… there are another two names to add to the list.
“Add Sarah Greene (Vikings, Noble) and Jessica De Gouw (Arrow and Deadline Gallipoli) to this short list.”
But which Marvel role could they be up for?
Although we’ve already seen some impressive test footage from the Deadpool movie, details remain scarce. And at the moment, we don’t really know anything about the film, let alone which characters will appear. But with Deadpool following the exploits of Wade Wilson – a mutant involved in the Weapon X program – it’s likely that we’ll see some other Marvel mutants in the film.
And that’s where Siryn comes in…
Some fans already believe that the Irish mutant with Banshee-like powers could be the perfect match for Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool. And since she’s already been connected to the character within the comic books, perhaps she’s a likely candidate.
As one of the leading members of the X-Force – another mutant property in development at Fox – Siryn has the ability to emit a high-frequency sonic scream which incapacitates anyone within the vicinity. And by controlling soundwaves around herself, she can even harness the power of flight.
Most importantly, Siryn and Deadpool became romantically involved… and that’s a perfect reason to expect to see her in the film.
But could these young female actresses be up for this particular role? For now, we’ll have to wait and see… but including her in the film makes an awful lot of sense.
Deadpool is set to star Ryan Reynolds as the infamous Merc With A Mouth and will be directed by Tim Miller. It’s expected to start filming on the next couple of months.
Deadpool heads to cinemas on 12 February 2016.
