Doctor Strange could make an appearance in the Iron Fist Netflix series before starring in his own solo film.
According to the folks at Bleeding Cool, the Sorcerer Supreme will likely appear in one of the new TV shows before going on to star in his own movie.
“It is planned that the character of Doctor Strange will make an appearance in Marvel’s Netflix shows,” they reveal. “Specifically Iron Fist.”
Of course, Iron Fist is one of the upcoming Netflix shows which will eventually culminate in forming The Defenders. And that includes Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones as well as Iron Fist.
But will this really happen?
Although A.K.A. Jessica Jones is currently filming, we’ve heard very little when it comes to the Iron Fist series. And while all the other Defenders have already been cast, Iron Fist remains a bit of a mystery.
And this could cast doubt on this new report. After all, with the production of Iron Fist seemingly in the slow lane, I can’t help wondering whether a TV cameo could really happen before the Doctor Strange movie in 2016.
I mean, let’s face it – Doctor Strange is just 18 months away… and with Marvel’s TV shows still a fair way off, it could be a little more like wishful thinking.
But if this does pan out, could we see Benedict Cumberbatch appear?
“Whether he will be played by Benedict Cumberbatch as he is in the upcoming movie scheduled for next year, or will be shown in a way that doesn’t need such a high profile actor to be on set, I don’t know. But odds are that the Cumberbatch will at least do the voice.”
Of course, this could mean a mere silhouetted appearance as a cameo in one of the episodes… and that might just be enough to link the Defenders into the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
But will it happen? For now, we’ll have to wait and see.
Doctor Strange heads to cinemas on 28 October 2016.
