Dracula Untold will be part of the larger Universal Monsters rebooted horror franchise… as producer Alissa Phillips confirms the rumours.
It’s been on the cards for a while – Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan creating a series of all-new Monsters movies in an attempt to revitalise old Universal properties. But while the first new Monsters movie is reportedly a remake of the classic The Mummy, it looks as though Dracula Untold may have beaten it to the punch… tying directly into their new franchise.
The folks at Badass Digest report that reshoots took place recently in order to add new footage that will directly link Dracula Untold into the Monsters franchise…
“A few months ago sources told me that Universal did some reshoots on Dracula Untold in order to allow it to fit into the larger Monsterverse,”they said. “And word from junketeers who have seen early screenings backs this up.”
But while there are little details about the upcoming tie-in, it seems that Dracula is heading back to the present day.
The DRACULA UNTOLD ‘tie in’ scene is at the very end, Dracula in a market in the modern day.

This seems to have been backed up today by producer Alissa Phillips… who – in an interview with HeyUGuys – confirms that Dracula Untold does link up with their wider franchise.
“I was really excited to be part of that,” she said. “When we started out we weren’t [part of the series], but then we found out that they were going to do it. Working with Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan who are very much a part of creating The Mummy and the other ones… it’s been fun to be a part of that.”
Of course, this tie-in has a lot of potential… especially when it comes to Luke Evans reprising the role of Dracula. It’s easy to see how he could make a cameo appearance in The Mummy. And from there? Who knows. Perhaps we’ll even see an Avengers-style monster team-up movie in the future.
Either way, it looks as though we can expect a lot more from Dracula. And after the saturation of the Twilight series, that can only be a good thing.
