Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has bagged a sci-fi great as the legendary Edward James Olmos joins the cast.
According to Marvel.com, the renowned sci-fi actor will join Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in an upcoming episode… playing a character that will bring huge changes for Agent Coulson and the team.
“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has just added another new face for its March return to ABC with Edward James Olmos,” they revealed. “Olmos will play Robert Gonzales, whose debut this spring will have massive repercussions for Director Coulson and his team.”
“Edward James Olmos brings an amazing gravitas to any role he inhabits, something we knew we needed for Robert Gonzales,” said Executive Producer Jeph Loeb. “When Olmos first appears on our series, everyone will have to take notice–including our favorite Agents.”
Unfortunately, little is known about Olmos’ role… except that he’s going to leave a lasting impression on the agents, as well as Director Coulson. But what that means in the long run? That’s just about anyone’s guess at this point.
Edward James Olmos is perhaps best known for his role as William Adama in the Battlestar Galactica reboot… but was also famous for portraying Gaff in the classic sci-fi film, Blade Runner.
But will he be heading to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for a long run?
At the moment, we know almost nothing about his stint on the show… and that includes how long he’ll be staying. But judging from Marvel’s wording in the official press release, it looks as though he’ll have a brief, but very important appearance.
Either way, S.H.I.E.L.D. just added one of the great faces of sci-fi. And if you ask me, it’s an excellent move. Let’s just hope he’s here to stay.
