Emily Blunt has been a fan favourite for Captain Marvel since the film was first announced… but would she be interested in the role?
During an interview with Collider, the 31-year-old British actress admitted that she hasn’t been approached for the role just yet… but it seems she might be interested.
“It’s funny ‘cause I’m hearing this Captain Marvel thing from a lot of people,” she said. “I have no official offer, whatsoever. No one’s called.”
Of course, she’s been linked to the role plenty of times since the film was recently unveiled… and it looks as though she remains the fans’ top pick to bring Carol Danvers to the big screen. Unfortunately, it looks as though there’s no weight to the rumours of her involvement.
“I don’t know where the hell it’s come from, in all honesty,” she added. “For me, I just think that the part has gotta be awesome. I just want to play great parts, and it’s sometimes hard to find within those big superhero movies. The female parts are not usually great, but recently, they’ve been better.”
But she did seem to be interested in the role… and it isn’t the first time.
“It has to be the right thing,” she said.
Of course, comic book fans will know that Blunt has already seen herself auditioning for an earlier Marvel role… as none other than Black Widow. Unfortunately, she was forced to pull out due to a schedule conflict. But could this be her chance to get back to the MCU?
Since last year’s Edge of Tomorrow, Blunt has become renowned for her ability to handle more action-oriented roles. And I have to admit, I loved her portrayal of Sergeant Vrataski in the Sci-Fi blockbuster.
But will she land the role of Captain Marvel?
For now, we’ll have to wait and see… and we’ll have to hope that Marvel is taking notice of the fan support to see her in the role. But if you ask me, they’d be mad not to ask her.
Captain Marvel appears in cinemas on 6 July 2018.
