It’s no secret that Charlie Cox will star in Netflix’s all-new Daredevil series… but now we finally get our first glimpse of him as Matt Murdock in some awesome new images. And his first Daredevil costume is a thing of wonder.
Taking to the screen in some explosive new footage at the New York Comic Con, Charlie Cox has finally appeared in character as Marvel’s Man Without Fear. Bringing Matt Murdock to the screen for the first time since Ben Affleck’s rather dismal movie, it looks as though he fits right in with his new costume… as you can see in these awesome new images.
Clearly inspired by Frank Miller’s seminal graphic novel ‘Man Without Fear’, Cox’s new costume is a huge departure from the red leather gimp suit of the Daredevil movie. And if you ask me, that’s a bloody good thing.
Of course, it seems as though this costume choice hints towards a pretty epic origin story, as in the graphic novel.
But will this make it to the Netflix show?
Whether or not Miller’s work appears in the Daredevil storyline remains to be seen, but I have to admit, the new show is definitely promising. And after Ben Affleck’s rather rubbish Daredevil movie, anything has to be better than that.
Of course, there’s also a new image of Charlie in costume as Matt Murdock… and judging from that rather sore-looking black eye beneath his shades, it seems he’s struggling to keep his dual identities separate. A possible plot thread from the upcoming series, perhaps?
I can’t help thinking that Frank Miller’s ‘Man Without Fear’ will be a big part of the new Daredevil’s origin story. After all, Marvel are no doubt keen to reboot the franchise and the graphic novel is often considered to be one of the greatest comic book origin stories.
Unfortunately, details remain scarce about the upcoming show, so it looks as though we’ll have to wait and see. But I have to admit – I’ll certainly be paying more attention to the new Daredevil after these striking new images.
