Here's our first look at Arrow's Black Canary.

It’s official – Arrow has released its first images of Katie Cassidy as the DC superhero, Black Canary. And let’s be honest, she kicks ass.

Katie Cassidy’s character, Laurel Lance, has been poised and ready to jump in as Black Canary for some time… but now we get our first look at her in costume thanks to these awesome new images. And she absolutely looks the part.

Arrow – Sara (Review)

Although Laurel Lance has been clearly readying to take on a more heroic role for some time, her transformation into the crime-fighting Black Canary has been a bit of a slow burner.

A Closer Look At Black Canary

And while the newly-released images finally show her suiting up, it looks as though UK audiences still have a bit of a wait… as these new pictures are attached to upcoming episode Left Behind which doesn’t yet have a US air date.

Of course, this all comes about due to the death of Laurel’s sister, Sara Lance… who is rather shockingly killed during the season premier after being shot through the heart with an arrow. Obviously, this was a game-changing event which has been covered in our recent Episode 2 review. And the effects are likely to be far-reaching for some time.

A Closer Look At Black Canary

Obviously, Sara’s death has affected much of this season’s plot – causing Oliver Queen (the titular Arrow) to search for Sara’s murderer, as well as Laurel to vow she’ll find her sister’s killer.

Quite how this pans out remains to be seen… but over the course of a few episodes, we’re likely to see Laurel turn into a more action-oriented character as she begins her training at the hands of Ted Grant.

Will Laurel find her sister’s killer? For now, we’re not sure. But it looks as though her transformation into Black Canary is only just beginning.

What do you think of the all-new Black Canary? Will Laurel find her sister’s killer? Let us know what you think in the comments below…
