It’s official: Deadpool is getting a brand-new costume.
And Ryan Reynolds gives us a glimpse in this rather awesome, offbeat image.
Although we’ve all seen Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool before – in the critically panned X-Men Origins: Wolverine – we’ve been dying to see how he’ll look in the upcoming solo movie. And while the recently leaked test footage gave us a good idea, it seems that the man himself has finally unveiled his new look…
Appearing on Twitter, the 38-year-old Deadpool actor revealed our first image of the Merc with a Mouth from the upcoming movie.
“With great power, comes great irresponsibility,” he said.

Of course, the costume is pretty much what we might expect… but that pose? Well, that’s something else entirely. Clearly reminiscent of the iconic Burt Reynolds Playgirl photoshoot, it’s not just mimicking a cultural icon here – it’s also setting the tone of the film.
Although comic book movies seem to be dominated by gritty reboots, it looks as though ‘Deadpool’ is going for something else entirely – and the film’s tongue is planted firmly in its cheek.
And I can’t help thinking this is spot on for a Deadpool movie.
Obviously, comic book fans will be pleased with the humorous tone… and it seems that Deadpool will sit very closely with the wit and self-referential style of the original stories.
But for now, this is just a guess.
We’ve all seen the test footage, but without an official trailer, we can’t be one-hundred percent certain of what we can expect. But I get the feeling that Fox are going in the right direction.
‘Deadpool’ heads to cinemas on 12 February 2016.
