It looks as though Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four reboot just got its first trailer… and it’s an awesome first look at some of Marvel’s original superheroes.
It’s been a long time since we first heard about the Fantastic Four reboot. And while the film has long-finished production, we still hadn’t heard a single thing about the movie. That is, until now.
Following some awesome new images from the set, 20th Century Fox has released the cool, new teaser trailer. And it’s something really special.
Introducing a younger cast, it looks as though The Fantastic Four will be inspired by the ‘Ultimates’ version of these classic Marvel heroes. We’re shown a young Ben Grimm and Reed Richards as they presumably carry out experiments at Grimm Salvage yard… and then we leap forward to a time after Richards has been accepted onto a government program for gifted young minds.
That’s presumably how he meets Susan Storm – the young girl tapping away at those computers while the US government prepares for a new kind of experiment…
Although nothing is explicitly mentioned in the trailer, it was confirmed by Trank himself that his movie would take cues from the comic books… and it looks as though the N-Zone experiment – research that Reed Richards conducted into opening a rift into an alternate dimension – will play a big part in this film.
And it’s probably how the Fantastic Four get their powers.
As far as comic book adaptations go, it looks as though The Fantastic Four will remain fairly faithful to its source. And after Marvel’s recent tampering with iconic villains such as the Mandarin, it’s no doubt something that comic book fans will appreciate.
Obviously, the tone of the trailer is something else entirely, and it’s certainly reminiscent of Josh Trank’s earlier film, Chronicle. It’s dark, it’s edgy and it’s a million miles away from the earlier incarnations of the Fantastic Four.
And that has to be a good thing.
The Fantastic Four heads to cinemas on 6 August 2015.
