Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot says Wonder Woman 3 is still on its way.
During an interview with ComicBook.com, the DC actress seemingly confirmed that another super-powered sequel is in the works under the new regime at DC Films.
“I love portraying Wonder Woman,” she said. “It’s so close to and dear to my heart. From what I heard from James and from Peter is that we’re gonna develop a Wonder Woman 3 together.”
James Gunn and Peter Safran recently took over as co-CEOs of DC Studios, but unfortunately, they still haven’t officially greenlit a third Wonder Woman movie.
In fact, fans have long thought that Wonder Woman 3 was yet another casualty of the Warner Bros. Discovery merger that saw Batgirl cancelled, and the entire DC slate shaken up. After all, The Flash was a clean break for Gunn and Safran to move on from the DCEU and create their own DCU in its wake.
The upcoming Blue Beetle is the first official DCU movie and marks our first foray into a post-Snyder DC Universe.
However, with Aquaman 2 still on the slate, anything is possible… and a third Wonder Woman movie may eventually end up on our screens.
Not exactly the clean break the DCU has been pointing towards.
Still, fans will no doubt be excited to see Gadot return to the role – her first outing as Wonder Woman was hailed as a critical success, and she’s since appeared across the DCU. Most recently, Gadot returned as Diana Prince for a cameo in The Flash alongside Ben Affleck’s Batman.
ScreenJolt’s Wonder Woman 84 review gave the film 4/5 and said: “Wonder Woman 84 shouldn’t be taken too seriously. It’s a fun-filled romp through an age of excess, consumption, and amazing hair. It doesn’t really matter if we just want to sit back and enjoy the ride.”
