Move over Sy Snootles – Star Wars 8 will apparently star Gary Barlow.
Appearing on ITV’s Lorraine, the 46-year-old Take That frontman revealed that he’s landed an impressive cameo in Star Wars: The Last Jedi… and no, he’s not a Stormtrooper.
“I’m not a stormtrooper, but I am in it,” he told Ross King.
But who exactly will he be playing?
Apparently, The Sun confirmed he filmed a cameo back in May 2016… but at the moment, there are no details on what this might entail. Could he be going the way of Simon Pegg with a costumed, alien role? Or will it be a less-subtle approach – Gary Barlow, lead singer of the next cantina band?
For now, we’ll have to wait and see.
“Now I’ve said that, I’ll probably be out,” he added. “I think the Star Wars people are so strict about what information [is out there]. So me saying that, I’ve probably just done myself out of a role.”
Thankfully, Lorraine’s Dan Wootton confirmed that ITV reached out to Lucasfilm before airing their little revelation… and it seems Gary Barlow’s cameo is safe and sound and will be in the movie.
But what role will he take?
I can’t help thinking it would be a little jarring to see Gary Barlow in the background of a scene, so perhaps he’ll take a voice role or something that involved heavy makeup or prosthetics like Simon Pegg’s Unkar Plutt.
But for now, we’ll have to wait and see.
