Things are getting really exciting in Portland on this week’s Grimm, as Monroe finds himself pursued by a group of fanatical wesen.
Monroe and Rosalee are finally going to leave for their long-overdue honeymoon, if only the couple could stop panicking about the gang in their absence. This is fairly justified, as Monroe comically points out that other people don’t have to worry about “scalp coat wearing mad men” when they leave.
But their honeymoon seems a lot less likely when Rosalee receives a threatening telephone call at the Spice Shop. She’s told that if she doesn’t leave Monroe it’ll be her blood next, and is horrified to find a dead fox hanging outside the shop. Monroe is absolutely furious and vows to kill whoever is responsible… hopefully Nick can find the culprit before he does.
The monster of the week is a Chupacabra on a killing-spree around Portland. After a doctor returns home from the Dominican Republic with a nasty looking Mosquito bite, it’s not long before he gets taken ill. However, this doctor is wesen, so it’s not quite as simple as it seems. He woges into a wild and furious dog-like creature, attacking people at random and draining their blood.
Of course, Nick and the team hit the books and soon discover that the Chupacabra is a wesen that’s stricken by disease. And now they need to get to him with Rosalee’s cure before it’s too late…
Meanwhile Wu is still questioning what’s going on in Portland, as he approaches Captain Renard with a pile of case that have been troubling him. Renard brushes it off, but Wu seems determined to find the answers. After coming face-to-face with the Chupacabra, he decided to take it up with Nick and Hank…
Fed up of being kept in the dark, he threatens to walk away. Nick is forced to finally come clean and confirms what he is seeing is real. But is it all too much?
Naturally Wu doesn’t take the Grimm news very well, and with the team tied up with the Chupacabra, there’s no time to use the gently-gently approach. He hits the bar in a misguided attempt to make sense of it all, but ends up freaking out and being put in a police cell.
Poor Wu. Nick and Hank really should have told him a long time ago. Particularly when Hank almost went mad himself coming to terms with the wesen world. I hope Wu comes around and doesn’t feel too bitter towards them, it would be great to see him kicking some bad-wesen butt!
At the precinct Renard receives a call from a familiar voice. He agrees to meet the caller, and we find out that it’s Tavitian, one of the leaders of the resistance. He wants to know who has baby Diana. Renard confirms that neither the royals nor the resistance have her, and that she has been entrusted to Kelly Burkhart. Tavitian vows to find the child, meaning Kelly now has Elizabeth, Viktor and Adalind, as well as the resistance on her trail! I’m not sure how the story will pan out, but it looks like there’ll be plenty of action to come.
The episode ends with two rather shocking events. Firstly, an officer is stationed outside Monroe’s house to safeguard the couple after the threat at the Spice Shop. However, it seems the Secundum Naturae Ordinem Wesen has infiltrated the Portland police force as we see the officer put on their infamous mask when Monroe approaches him. Monroe gets attacked by two other men…but what will happen to him?
This story has been brewing for some time, and it doesn’t look good…
The second shocker is with Juliette. Her stomach cramps were not because she’s pregnant, but because she’s turning into a Hexenbiest! The episode ends with her screaming into a mirror at her decrepit, horrific face.
Could Juliette be wesen now? I certainly hope so, as it’s been a poor season for her so far. Juliette went from finding her strength in Grimm Season 3, back to a damsel in distress hating all things Grimm. But will she be able to cope with her new powers?
What do you think Grimmsters, will Juliette embrace her new Hexenbiest strength? What’s in store for Monroe? Let us know in the comments below…
