Classic X-Men mutant Havok is set to return in X-Men: Apocalypse… as Bryan Singer confirms that he will be back.
Taking to Instagram, director Bryan Singer revealed that Havok – the energy absorbing mutant from X-Men: First Class will return in the upcoming sequel… and Lucas Till will return to the role.
“Welcome back #lucastill #xmen #XmenApocalypse #jamesmcavoy #michaelfassbender #jenniferlawrence #nicholashoult #rosebyrne How time flies! #XmenFirstClass!”
Havok first appeared in X-Men: First Class as Charles Xavier recruited his fellow mutants to take on Kevin bacon’s former-Nazi villain, Sebastian Shaw. But that’s not the last time we saw Havok on the big screen, as he returned in ‘Days of Future Past’.
But this is likely to be the first time we see him alongside his more famous brother, Cyclops.
That’s right – Havok (aka Alex Summers) is related to the iconic X-Men hero, Scott Summers, who is perhaps better known as Cyclops. And with both mutants appearing in X-Men: Apocalypse it seems a family reunion may be in order.
Of course, Cyclops will be played by X-Men newcomer, Tye Sheridan… and this marks the first time the classic mutant has returned to the big screen since X-Men: The Last Stand.
How will the brother interact on the big screen? For now, we’ll have to wait and see. But their relationship hasn’t always been a happy one – especially during the comic book, Age of Apocalypse.
Of course, fans of the comics will no doubt remember the sad story of Scott and Alex Summers… and how Cyclops was forced to kill their father after finding out that he’s been infected by the Brood.
Unfortunately, Havok didn’t agree with his brother’s actions and felt that there had to be another course of action… eventually resenting Cyclops for what he’d done.
But will this version of events end up on the big screen? For now, we’ll have to wait and see… but with Apocalypse in the mix, it’s entirely possible.
X-Men: Apocalypse heads to cinemas on 19 May 2016.
