The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies marches ever closer… and now Warner Bros. has released the final trailer ahead of its epic return to cinemas.
The final instalment in The Hobbit trilogy will reportedly end with a colossal battle sequence, bigger than anything fans of the on-going fantasy franchise have ever seen before. And in this cool new trailer, we get our first glimpse of what we might expect.
Starring Martin Freeman once more as Bilbo Baggins, Battle of the Five Armies brings this hobbit’s epic adventure to a close… and will see Bilbo face some of his toughest times yet as he plunges head-first into a war that’s not his own.
After The Desolation of Smaug, Bilbo’s attempts to retrieve the Arkenstone – a priceless gem that should belong to deposed king Thorin Oakenshield – have gone south. And that soon brings the fearless dragon Smaug down from the mountain, to rain fire upon nearby Lake-town.
Of course, that’s not the only dark force that our band of adventurers has to deal with… and with the dark wizard Sauron returning to middle-earth, there are also his armies of Wargs and Orcs which will need to be dispatched if they stand a fighting chance of survival.
“You have but one question to answer,” says Sir Ian McKellan as Gandalf. “How shall this day end?”
Obviously, we’ll have to wait until December to find out. But with the return of Ian McKellan, Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage and even Evangeline Lilly and Orlando Bloom, it looks as though it’ll be an explosive end to ‘The Hobbit’ trilogy.
The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies is in UK cinemas from 12 December 2014.
