Jared Leto has taken his first steps towards becoming The Joker… by cutting his hair and getting rid of his beard for the upcoming Suicide Squad movie.
Back last year, Jared Leto was announced to be playing The Joker in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie. But there was just one problem – he looked nothing at all like The Joker. With his long, luscious locks and matching Jesus-esque beard, many comic book fans wondered if we’d be getting a very different kind of Joker.
But now the first step of Leto’s transformation into DC‘s Clown prince of Crime has begun…
Taking to Twitter, writer and director David Ayer teased Jared Leto’s impending haircut with a rather ominous picture… and it wasn’t long before the image went viral.

Of course, with David Ayer continuing to post numerous images from the Suicide Squad production on Twitter, we can’t help wondering whether there are going to be more in the series. Could we get our first glimpse at a Joker make-up test in the coming days?
If you ask me, it would be a rather smart move. After all, The Joker’s appearance has been up for debate ever since Jared Leto signed on for the role. And if he looks as good as we hope in the costume and make-up, it would make sense for Warner Bros. to release some images.
But one thing’s for certain – David Ayer is rather pleased with how The Joker will look…
“@pottertardis: @DavidAyerMovies could you please describe jared letos’s joker in one word ?” Majestic #skwad

Now, that’s not normally a word that’s associated with The Joker. After all, he’s known throughout the comic books for his grim humour and deadly plans. But perhaps ‘majestic’ is actually rather fitting.
I mean, let’s face it – The Joker is all about the grand plans, the overblown gestures and the Machiavellian schemes he employs. If there was ever a villain to be called ‘majestic’ it would certainly be The Joker.
But how will Jared Leto look in the role?
For now, all we’ve seen are small glimpses, and I can’t wait to find out more. But for now, we’ll have to wait and see.
Suicide Squad heads to cinemas on 5 August 2016.
