The Doctor’s latest companion may have departed, but it looks as though she has some ideas about the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas Special. But will Clara Oswald return?
It’s no secret that Clara and the Doctor parted ways recently, with a rather heart-wrenching goodbye. And while it’s been a tough season for the young companion, it looks as though she really found it hard to let go. But while the Doctor has seemingly left her for good, it looks as though Jenna Coleman could be back in the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas episode… and has dropped a few hints about what we can expect.
During an interview with In Style, the 28-year-old Doctor Who companion offered up some tantalising details about the upcoming Christmas Special.
“It’s written in sections and it’s about dreaming – what is real and what is not”, she explained. Of course, it’s unclear which segment that the familiar red-clothed folk hero falls into. “Father Christmas is there – played by Nick Frost!”
Obviously, it was revealed during a post-episode stinger that Nick Frost would be playing Father Christmas in the upcoming Christmas Special… and I can’t help thinking that they’ve picked exactly the right man for the job. But is Father Christmas real or not?
It’s a question that’s often avoided on British television… and I can’t help thinking we can expect much of the same this Christmas on Doctor Who. But what about Clara? Perhaps Jenna’s knowledge of the episode indicates that she’ll be returning. But will it be part of a dream or Clara joining the Doctor for one last hurrah?
Either way, it looks as though Jenna has some ideas what she’d like to do after leaving the show.
“There are no grand plans,” she said. “I’d like to do some theatre, get back into the rehearsal room. I think it’s all about surrounding yourself with really clever, talented people so you can soak up some of their brilliance!”
Of course, fans of the show will no doubt wonder why she’s decided to part ways with Doctor Who. And more importantly, who might replace her as the Doctor’s travelling companion. But for now, we might not have seen the back of Clara just yet.
