Jessica Henwick Joins Star Wars VII Cast

Star Wars VII has already wrapped, but that apparently doesn’t stop the casting news… as Jessica Henwick will reportedly appear in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Jessica Henwick joins Star Wars 7.

Star Wars VII has already wrapped, but that doesn’t stop the casting news… as Jessica Henwick will reportedly appear in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Known for her roles in Spirit Warriors and the BBC drama Silk, it looks as though Jessica Henwick will be starring in the upcoming Star Wars sequel. But with the production wrapped and filming finished, we have to wonder – who will she be playing? And are there any further casting announcements to come?

According to BBC journalist Lizo Mzimba, the 22-year-old British actress will appear in the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

“Pleased @JHenwick‘s in @StarWars VII,” he said in a recent Tweet. “Big fan, from Spirit Warriors to Silk. And she’s Nymeria Sand in @GameOfThrones next year!”

Of course, filming has already finished on the highly-anticipated Star Wars sequel… and with absolutely no official details of the plot or characters, we’re left pretty much in the dark when it comes to the question of who Jessica Henwick is likely to play.

But then, I can’t help thinking it’ll be a more physically active role…

For one thing, the 22-year-old actor has already been trained in the Chinese martial art, Wushu and trained with Hollywood stun co-ordinators for her role in Spirit Warriors. It’s certainly possible that Abrams & Co. would be impressed with her martial arts training… and that may well lead to a lightsaber-wielding role.

But could she play a Jedi or a Sith?

At the moment, either is a possibility… as is a more traditional combat-oriented role, depending on the screenplay. But with no details so far, the best we can do is hazard a guess. And I’d put my money on Jessica Henwick charging into battle with a hilt at her fingertips.

Exactly which character she’ll play remains a mystery. But with the upcoming teaser trailer about to be unveiled, it might not be long until we find out.

Star Wars; The Force Awakens appears in cinemas across the UK from 18 December 2015.

Do you think Jessica Henwick will appear as a Jedi or a Sith? Will she appear in the upcoming Star Wars VII teaser? Let us know what you think in the comments below…
