Kill Or Be Killed is heading to the big screen.
The best part? John Wick director Chad Stahelski is making it.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stahelski will be helming the upcoming adaptation of the Ed Brubaker graphic novel, Kill Or Be Killed.
“Director Chad Stahelski is teaming up with his John Wick producer Basil Iwanyk to bring to the big screen Kill or Be Killed, a comic book from Winter Soldier creator Ed Brubaker,” they confirmed. “Dan Casey, who previously adapted the Brubaker comic Incognito, now set up at Columbia, is attached to write the script.”
What is Kill Or Be Killed?
The original comic book follows the story of Dylan – a depressed college student who attempts to take his own life, but after surviving, he is visited by a demon who explains that he sparred Dylan’s life. But there’s a catch – he can carry on living, but he has to keep killing… that’s right – one month of life for every person he kills.
It’s certainly an interesting project, and it’s an excellent fit for Chad Stahelski considering John Wick and John Wick: Chapter 2. Still riding high off the back of the sequel, he’s one of the most interesting action movie directors of recent years.
And this sounds like one of the most interesting action movie premises.
But will the movie adaptation do the comic book justice?
For now, we’ll have to wait and see. But I can’t help thinking it’s the kind of story that lends itself incredibly well to the big screen. And if nothing else, it’s in very, very capable hands.
