It’s official – we’ve finally seen our first glimpse of Jurassic World in the rather awesome teaser trailer… and next week, we’ll be getting an even closer look.
Informing us that the park is open, this awesome first look reveals the iconic Jurassic Park gates after a bit of a makeover. And with the new Jurassic World signage in place, it’s clear that things ain’t what they used to be. Especially when it comes to the park’s transportation…
The full first trailer arrives on 27 November… but here’s what we gleam from this awesome new teaser.
Of course, it looks as though the famous Jurassic Park cars have gone… and while Richard Attenborough’s InGen President spared no expense, it looks as though they’ve been given a bit of an upgrade in the way of an ultra-futuristic bubble car thing.
We’re also treated to a fleeting glance at Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, both of whom look as though they fit right in. Top notch casting here, folks.
Obviously, there’s also the obligatory shot of dinosaurs running cross country while a park vehicle drives alongside… and this gives us our first look at the new dinosaurs of Jurassic World. Just don’t expect to see the big, bad T-Rex or the rumoured genetically-modified terror that is the D-Rex.
Now, this is a very, very short glimpse of what’s to come, but here are a few thoughts.
For one thing – is the Jurassic World gate rendered in CGI? I can’t help thinking that it looks an awful lot like a mediocre visual effects shot… and if that’s right, it’s a bit of a let-down. I mean, the original gates were both imposing and incredibly tactile. I’d hate for that realistic touch to be lost in what’s already proving to be a highly-anticipated sequel.
But while the look might be a little out of character, the music says it all.
Clearly a rendition of John Williams’ original score, it looks as though Michael Giacchino – the composer for Jurassic World – has taken his trademark style and applied it to the iconic theme. And what we have here is something that’s as wonderful as it is haunting.
Played note-by-note, it gives the teaser a haunting sense of foreboding… and that’s surely no accident as we wait for the first full-length trailer.
Jurassic World will appear in cinemas across the UK from 12 June 2015.
