X-Men: Apocalypse adds yet-another classic mutant to its roster… as newcomer Lana Condor joins as Jubilee.
It’s no secret that Days of Future Past heavily rebooted the X-Men franchise. And with the return of some of our favourite X-Men at the end of the movie, it certainly put things right. After all, most fans were dying to see the return of Jean Grey and Cyclops.
But now X-Men: Apocalypse takes a step back through time… and introduces some of our favourite comic book mutants along with the classic cast.
Appearing on Instagram, director Bryan Singer revealed that Jubilee will appear in X-Men: Apocalypse… and will be played by Lana Condor.
Of course, comic book fans will no doubt know all about Jubilation Lee – aka Jubilee. The young mutant possesses the ability to create energy plasmoids at her fingertips – using them to blind her enemies and in some cases, detonating them to devastating effect.
Although Jubilee has appeared throughout the films in minor cameos, it looks as though this could be the first film where she’s paid a bit more attention. Of course, how she fits into the wider scope of the film remains to be seen.
As far actress Lana Condor, almost nothing is known about her.
There’s next to nothing available online and it would seem that X-Men: Apocalypse might even be this young newcomer’s first Hollywood film.
But her casting is still rather interesting… and sits quite closely with the comic book origins of the character. Jubilee is Chinese American, after all.
Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait for further details. But one thing’s for certain – Apocalypse is building quite an impressive cast.
X-Men: Apocalypse heads to cinemas on 19 May 2016.
