LEGO Batman just got its first teaser trailer… and it’s glorious.
Starring Will Arnett as the now-iconic LEGO version of the Dark Knight, the upcoming LEGO Batman movie has just unveiled its first teaser. And with a rather hilarious beatbox intro from the Batman himself, it’s shaping up to be the superhero movie of the decade.
In the LEGO universe, at least.
And director Chris McKay explained the huge appeal of LEGO Batman.
“We thought if we can tell a well-rounded, funny story that’s action-packed, we can build a big movie around this character,” he told USA Today. “This is the movie we would want to see.”
LEGO Batman focusses on the day-to-day life of everyone’s favourite LEGO superhero… but while the solitary Dark Knight is more than happy in his lone Batcave with only Alfred for company, his world turns upside down with the introduction of DC‘s Robin and Batgirl.
“Batman is an island onto himself,” explained McKay. “The only thing he doesn’t have is relationships.”
How will Will Arnett’s Batman cope with some new friends in his life?
For now, we’ll have to wait and see… but with Arrested Development co-star Michael Cera as Robin, I’m guessing we can expect some rather interesting chemistry between the two.
LEGO Batman is directed by Chris McKay with a script from Seth Grahame-Smith. Will Arnett will be joined by Ralph Fiennes as Batman’s trusted man-servant, Alfred, along with Michael Cera as Robin and Rosario Dawson as Batgirl.
The Joker also appears as (presumably) the film’s main villain… voiced by Zach Galifianakis
LEGO Batman heads to cinemas on 10 February 2017.
