Although Mark Millar’s Nemesis has been rumoured for the big screen for some time, it looks as though he may have made some progress.
After the huge success of Kingsman: The Secret Service it’s no secret that the comic book movies of Mark Millar have become far more bankable Hollywood properties. But does this mean he can use this to push through some of his more radical projects?
It looks as though that might be the case for Nemesis…
Appearing on Facebook, the 45-year-old comic book creator – responsible for some of Marvel and DC’s most popular runs – teased some news about his own Nemesis.
“Oh, listen,” he said. “You know that Nemesis movie? Some big news over coming week… G’NIGHT!”
Of course, the message is rather vague for the time being… but with the promise of big news coming in the following week, it won’t be long before we find out what it’s all about. But that hasn’t stopped comic book fans from speculating what it all means.
The most obvious answer is that Nemesis may finally be approved.
Having brought various grittier comic book properties to the big screen already, Millar is no stranger to the darker side of comic book humour. But while Kick-Ass and Kingsman are excellent in their own right, Nemesis is something else entirely…
Based on the exploits of a super villain called Nemesis, the comic book takes an extremely dark look at what comic book villains could really be capable of in the real world. And it’s far more brutal than anything you’d usually see in the pages of a comic book.
For this reason, Nemesis being green lit would be huge news to both Millar and his fans.
But could there be a bit more to it than that?
Nemesis has apparently been in the works for some time… and while we’ve heard no official announcements, that doesn’t mean to say there haven’t been talks behind-the-scenes. And perhaps a casting announcement could also be imminent.
Either way, it looks as though Nemesis is coming – and that’s great news.
