It looks as though a new He-Man movie is finally on its way… as writer Jeff Wadlow finishes up Masters of the Universe rewrites.
It’s been in the works for some time – an all new He-Man movie that might just erase the horrific memories of the ‘80s travesty. But while it’s unlikely that Dolph Lundgren will get to reprise the role, it looks as though work is finally pushing forward… and after being brought in to rework the script, Jeff Wadlow has submitted it to the studio.
According to DeVon Franklin – Senior Vice President of Production at Columbia Pictures – the Kick-Ass 2 director has finished work on the Masters of the Universe script… and it’s now in the hands of the studio.
“Jeff Wadlow is working 247,” he said via Twitter back in November. “We’ll have a draft into the studio for the holidays. By the power of Grayskull, this will happen!”
And when fans demanded proof, it looks as though he later unveiled a picture of the script itself.
According to reports (and the cover of his script), Wadlow submitted the script on Christmas Eve… and now it’s up to the studio whether they want to proceed with his changes. Although no official release date has been set, it looks as though we might expect some official word soon enough.
Of course, there’s no word yet about who will be brought in to direct… but I can’t help thinking that perhaps Wadlow himself is a prime candidate. He has plenty of experience after bringing Kick Ass 2 to the big screen. And I can’t help thinking that his script contributions may well set him up for the director’s chair.
For now, we’ll have to wait and see. But let’s face it – anything is going to be better than the previous He-Man movie…
