It looks as though Ghostbusters 3 will set up an all-new, female-led franchise… and the likes of Melissa McCarthy and Emma Stone have already show interest in the movie.
It’s been a long time in the making – Ghostbusters 3 is one of those movies we all never really thought would make it to the big screen. But now the franchise is set to go off in an entirely new direction.
Some of Hollywood’s funniest leading ladies are queuing up to be a part of the Ghostbusters sequel.
According to an e-mail from Sony executive Amy Pascal, it looks as though Melissa McCarthy and Emma Stone have expressed interest in the ‘Ghostbusters’ sequel.
“Paul’s movie is gonna be the first one and from what I’m hearing Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone and Melissa McCarthy and Amy Schumer and [Lizzy] Kaplan just to name a few have already said they wanted to be in…”
Of course, with director Paul Feig taking the helm of the ‘Ghostbusters’ reboot, it was always likely that he’d turn to Melissa McCarthy. After all, they’ve worked together on a number of big screen projects including ‘The Heat’ and ‘Bridesmaids’.
And with Emma Stone’s experience in the likes of Superbad and Easy A, it’s no surprise that she’s keen to get in on one of the biggest cult comedies of all time.
Quite whether either of them land a role in the upcoming Ghostbusters movie remains to be seen. But I can’t help thinking that McCarthy stands a very good chance and it might even be a certainty at this stage. But who will join her as one of the new paranormal investigators?
For now, we’ll have to wait and see.
