A new trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron gives us an extended look at Marvel’s upcoming blockbuster… and while it adds a few new scenes, the best bits come from Ultron himself.
We’ve all seen the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer… some of us have seen it more than others. And after it was leaked by an unknown source, it’s led to a mountain of recent Age of Ultron reveals. So it’s time for another extended trailer and this time, we get to see some new shots of Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man as he shows off in his signature style.
Of course, that’s not all… and the really revealing stuff comes in the form of some extended dialogue from the titular villain, Ultron.
“I know you mean well,” he says in his now trademark sinister voice. “You want to protect the world but you don’t want to change… there’s only one path to peace – your extinction.”
It’s not much, but it certainly adds some context to Ultron’s actions… especially when you line it up with the film’s official plot summary.
“When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.”
It’s clear that this rogue AI is attempting to cleanse the earth of humanity… and it’s all very Asimovian in Ultron’s motives. But with these awesome action scenes, it’s clear that it packs plenty of punch. And the usual Marvel charm.
Starring Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlet Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen and James Spader, it looks as though Earth’s mightiest heroes have their work cut out for them.
Avengers: Age of Ultron is expected in cinemas on 24 April 2015.
