The Man Without Fear takes centre stage as Daredevil releases some cool new images of Matt Murdock suiting up in his awesome black suit.
It’s perhaps one of Marvel’s most anticipated TV projects to date – bringing Daredevil to life in an all-new Netflix TV show. But while many comic book fans still have a bad taste in their mouths after Ben Affleck’s dismal outing, it looks as though the upcoming Daredevil show promises to be “the exact opposite” of the appalling 2003 superhero flop.
And it might just be a tad more realistic, too.
According to Marvel TV boss Jeff Loeb, the upcoming Daredevil series will be far more grounded in reality than its big-screen counterparts.
“There aren’t going to be people flying through the sky; there are no magic hammers,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “We’ve always approached this as a crime drama first, superhero show second.”
Of course, the very premise of Daredevil’s origin story lends itself to the notion of a crime drama. Matt Murdock – lawyer by day, vigilante by night, bringing criminals to justice when the letter of the law simply won’t do. And all this without his sight.
“It’s a little grittier and edgier than Marvel has gone before,” said showrunner Steven DeKnight. “But we’re not looking to push it to extreme violence or gratuitous nudity.”
It looks as though Daredevil will take a few cues from Frank Miller’s iconic graphic novel, The Man Without Fear… and while Matt Murdock initially suits up in a rather cool, black costume, he will eventually don the infamous red suit.
But while Daredevil will face plenty of challenges as he gets to grips with becoming a superhero, it looks as though Charlie Cox faces an altogether simpler challenge.
“I put on a shirt but I can’t look where the buttons are, because Daredevil wouldn’t know where the buttons are,” he said. “But I also can’t fumble.”
