Although James Bond 007 works for one of the most secure organisations in the world, the same can’t be said for Daniel Craig… after nine all-new Bond cars are found to be stolen.
That’s right folks – it looks as though some real-life Bond villains have made off with some of the upcoming Bond movie’s vehicles… stealing nine luxury cars from a location in north Germany ahead of the upcoming SPECTRE film shoot.
And the irony is that this daring theft came just days after director Sam Mendes promised bond fans a little more ‘mischief’ in the upcoming film.
According to The Express, a total of nine new vehicles were pilfered from a supposedly secure location… and this could set back production of the upcoming movie.
“Five Range Rover Sports were reportedly among the vehicles stolen from a garage in northern Germany,” they said. “The cars, worth an estimated £630,000, had been specially modified for the movie project and were awaiting transport to the Alps for filming which begins next week.”
Unfortunately, those modifications didn’t include on-board homing devices like their on screen counterparts… but if some of these cars had custom modifications to be used on the big screen, it’s likely that replacing these vehicles won’t be as easy as ordering some more from the local dealership.
“It is likely that new cars will have to be built due to their specific requirements for the film,” they explained. “German police admit they can’t find any trace of the missing vehicles amid claims the theft could delay location filming.”
Of course, the nature of the missing vehicles has been kept under wraps for the time being… but it’s unlikely that criminals have made off with any fully activated, spy-gadgets. But the real problem is whether or not these custom vehicles were heavily modified. After all, with filming only just beginning, it would be a terrible time to have to halt production.
SPECTRE has already begun filming this week and will star Daniel Craig as he reprises the role of James Bond. He’s joined by Léa Seydoux, Monica Bellucci and Christoph Waltz as well as returning faces Ben Whishaw, Ralph Fiennes and Naomie Harris.
SPECTRE is expected is cinemas from 6 November 2015.
