Oscar Isaac Will Appear In Star Wars 8

Poe Dameron will return in the upcoming Star Wars sequel.

20th March 2015 by Ryan Leston

Star Wars 8 Oscar Isaac

The galaxy far, far away may be entering uncertain times… but not for Oscar Isaac, who confirms he will return in Star Wars 8.

After landing the role of X-Wing pilot Poe Dameron in Star Wars VII, it looks as though Oscar Isaac doesn’t have to worry too much about stray laser blasts… as he confirms that he will return in the next Star Wars sequel.

J.J. Abrams Wanted For Star Wars IX

In an interview with Moviefone, the 36-year-old Star Wars VII actor confirmed that he will be back for the following sequel.

Quizzed about whether he’s excited to work with director Rian Johnson, his answer really says it all…

“Yes,” he replied. “Very excited.”

Not exactly a subtle answer there… and perhaps Oscar Isaac should have avoided answering the question. But it looks as though he’s unofficially the first new character to return in Star Wars 8.

Considering we’re yet to find out how Episode VII pans out, perhaps Isaac tipped his hand a little early…

Of course, we still have no idea who makes it along with him… and if the original trilogy teaches us anything, it’s that even the most revered characters (such as Obi-Wan Kenobi) can find themselves on the business end of a stray lightsaber.

For now, solid details about Star Wars VII remain scarce… and with the film still a good nine months away from theatrical release, it’s likely to be some time before we find out any further details. And that means we still can’t be sure which characters will make it into Episode 8.

Aside from X-Wing pilot, Poe Dameron, of course.

Details Of Star Wars: Rogue One Concept Art

“It was very cool,” said Isaac about his stint in the new X-Wing, “but a little nauseating because the thing is on a gimbal and moving all around. I forgot to breathe and I was like, ‘Whoa’. But it was very cool.”

Will Oscar Isaac be able to use his newfound X-Wing piloting skills to save any of his new cast members? For now, we’ll have to wait and see. But I can’t help thinking John Boyega and Daisy Ridley will join him in Episode VIII.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens heads to cinemas on 18 December 2015.

Who do you think will join Oscar Isaac in the upcoming sequel? Will the original trilogy characters return once again? Let us know what you think in the comments below…
