It’s official – The Punisher will be back for a second series.
According to Deadline, the recent Marvel / Netflix show has been renewed for a second series… and that means Jon Bernthal will be suiting up as The Punisher once more.
“Marvel’s perfect renewal record at Netflix continues, with the Internet network just announcing a Season 2 pickup for The Punisher,” they revealed. “The renewal comes less than a month after the Nov. 17 debut of the Jon Bernthal-led show’s 13-episode first season.”
The show stars Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle – the iconic Marvel comic book character who carves out his own brand of vigilante justice following the death of his family. And it’s just the latest in a very successful run of Marvel properties at Netflix.
But when will the next Season be available?
Well, probably not for a long while yet.
It’s no secret that Marvel’s Defenders have each been renewed for another Season – leaving The Punisher potentially following sometime after each of those have debuted.
That said, The Punisher is definitely its own thing… and that could mean a far swifter turnaround if the show isn’t forced to fit in with the schedule of Marvel’s other comic book shows.
Still, with Season One still very new, it’s likely we won’t be seeing Frank Castle back for a while. But it’s oddly comforting that this won’t be the last time we see him.
The Punisher stars Jon Bernthal, Ben Barnes, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Amber Rose Revah, and Deborah Ann Woll.
The Punisher Season One is available on Netflix now.
