Quentin Tarantino has his sights set on Al Pacino.
And it sounds absolutely perfect.
It’s no secret that Quentin Tarantino’s latest movie is assembling an all-star cast. He’s already managed to nab Leonardo DiCaprio for the leading role, and with Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt in his sights (not to mention the ever-brilliant Margot Robbie), it sounds like it’s going to be one hell of a project.
Now, he wants Al Pacino, too.
According to Variety, the iconic filmmaker is ‘interested’ in casting Pacino for the upcoming movie – a film which follows the story of a young TV actor looking for work, set against the backdrop of the murder of Sharon Tate at the hands of the Manson Family.
“Tom Cruise is also being pursued to star in the director’s ninth feature,” they said. “Sources now tell Variety that Tarantino is interested in casting Al Pacino in the film as well.”
Of course, at this stage it’s little more than a dream casting.
After all, Al Pacino isn’t in talks for the role, nor has Tarantino engaged with his reps in any meaningful way – he simply ‘wants’ him for the movie. That said, perhaps Al Pacino could be convinced to join the cast, considering who else is involved.
It’s already shaping up to be quite a project… and if Tarantino assembles his dream cast, it would include Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie and Al Pacino. I can’t help thinking any actor would kill to be a part of that.
And in an earlier interview, Margot Robbie wold agree.
“Nothing’s official,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “But I would kill to work with him.”
It certainly sounds as though Margot Robbie is happy to board the movie, presumably as long as her schedule allows. And with DiCaprio and Robbie leading the all-star cast, it’s going to make it a hell of a lot easier to sell the movie to other potential cast members.
Will Al Pacino take the bait?
For now, we’ll have to wait and see. But I’d love to see it.
