Ray Fisher may have been confirmed as DC’s Cyborg for the upcoming Batman V Superman and Justice League films, but it seems he had no idea that he’d be getting his own solo outing.
It’s been an exciting couple of weeks for DC fans after Warner Bros. announced an extensive superhero line-up. Of course, the news came as a shock to everyone… not least of all, the star of the upcoming Cyborg solo film, who had no idea what it was on the cards.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the American actor, known mostly for his off-Broadway stage shows, explained that he was very much in the dark about the Cyborg solo film.
“I didn’t know the extent to which DC and WB had planned on taking my character,” he explained. “When I signed on, I just wanted to be part of this world. But that specific information, I found out then and there. I didn’t think I’d be getting my own stand-alone film.”
Of course, Ray Fisher has been rumoured for the role of Cyborg for some time… and while many of us expected a Batman V Superman cameo (and eventually, a role in the upcoming ‘Justice League’ movie), I can’t help thinking he’s not alone when it comes to the Cyborg spin-off film.
But while he’s still getting into the swing of things when it comes to DC’s Cinematic Universe, it looks as though he’s already finishes filming his Batman V Superman scenes.
“I met everyone in the Justice League except Henry Cavill and Ezra Miller,” he said. “It was surreal. You get this idea of going to work on a Hollywood set as being really stressful and nerve-wracking. But it blew that stereotype away. If they did have stressful times, it wasn’t while I was there.”
Of course, the fact that he’s met the majority of the Justice League seems to confirm Jason Momoa’s appearance in the upcoming Batman V Superman. But will this be part of the film or is it a post-credit scene? For now, we’ll have to wait and see.
Marking Ray Fisher’s big screen debut, Batman V Superman brings the young actor to the superhero genre for the first time. But is he the right man for Cyborg? After bulking up and proving his acting chops in the show Fetch Clay, Make Man it looks as though he’s going to be exactly what Zack Snyder is looking for… and I get the feeling this casting is right on the money.
But what can we expect from the upcoming DC movies?
“Let me tell you, man,” Fisher apparently said with a laugh, “people are in for a hell of a treat.” I just hope DC’s formidable line-up delivers over the next few years.
