Daredevil’s Claire Temple will return as Rosario Dawson signs up for Season Two.
According to an official statement at Marvel.com, the 35-year-old actress has signed a new contract for the return of Daredevil and may even appear elsewhere.
“Marvel and Netflix are proud to announce Rosario Dawson will reprise her role as Claire Temple in the second season of the Netflix Original Series ‘Marvel’s Daredevil’, coming in 2016, as part of a larger exclusive TV deal that will also allow her to appear in any of Marvel’s other Netflix original series.”
Of course, this likely means that she’ll show up in the upcoming AKA Jessica Jones and might even feature in Iron Fist – providing connective tissue between Marvel’s increasingly large television universe.
And if you ask me, that’s a good thing.
Introduced as a nurse who helps to patch up Matt Murdock after a particularly rough night, Claire Temple soon became a season regular – helping Daredevil get back on his feet when he’d taken a bit of a bashing.
And she might even provide the same caring service to the rest of Marvel’s TV heroes.
“After working with Rosario in the first season, we knew instantly that we had to have her back for our second,” said Head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb. “Claire Temple proved a fan favorite in Season 1, and we can’t wait for fans to see all the plans we have for her next.”
But how will she fit into the larger Marvel universe?
I can’t help thinking that ‘Iron Fist’ is perhaps the most logical place for Claire to show up. After all, we’ve already seen plenty of references to the oriental background of the upcoming series.
And if Daredevil and Iron Fist are going to hit the mean streets together, I imagine they’re going to need a place to get patched up…
Of course, it’s entirely likely that we’ll see her before that – probably as part of AKA Jessica Jones. But for now we’ll have to wait and see… and the return of Rosario Dawson is a very good thing.
