Wes Craven’s horror classic Scream will be heading to TV.
Do you like scary movies? It looks as though MTV are definitely fans after ordering a full series of the new Scream TV show. But while the new series debuts in October next year, what can we expect?
According to Entertainment Weekly, the show was officially confirmed by MTC and will appear on our screens this time next year… probably by Halloween.
“MTV has handed a full series order to its TV adaptation of Scream, the 1996 slasher film and subsequent box office-busting horror franchise. The series will premiere in October 2015 with 10 episodes.”
And it looks as though the anticipated TV show will be produced by original director, Wes Craven. Of course, he won’t be perching in the director’s chair… which will instead be going to Jamie Travis who also directed the pilot episode.
Starring Willa Fitzgerald, Amy Forsyth, John Karna, Carlson Young and Amadeus Serafini, this new series will presumably follow in the footsteps of the original film – following the exploits of a group of teenagers as they find themselves picked off by a mysterious killer.
“Scream has been one of our largest and most treasured franchises at Dimension and we are thrilled to embark on the next chapter and join forces with a network that we love,” said Bob Weinstein. And it’s obvious that they’re keen to rekindle the magic of the original.
But will it really be as good as the movie? For now, we’ll have to wait and see… but I’m not hoping for much.
