Who’s playing who in the Han Solo spin-off?
Finally, we have some idea thanks to some leaked LEGO sets.
It’s no secret that Han Solo is being played by Alden Ehrenreich, with Donald Glover presumably whipping on a snazzy cape for the role of Lando Calrissian. But while those iconic Star Wars characters have been known for a long time, there are plenty of other characters in the upcoming Solo movie we have no idea about.
That is, until now…
A series of leaked Star Wars LEGO sets has shed some light on the characters names in the movie, and even give us some hints about what their roles might entail.
Here’s a list of those sets thanks to Jeremy Conrad:
75209 – Han Solo’s Speeder Minifigures: Han Solo, Qi’Ra, Corellian Hound
75210 – Moloch’s Speeder Minifigures: Moloch, Rebolt, Corellian Hounds(2)
75211 – Imperial TIE Fighter Minifigures: Mimban Stormtrooper, Imperial Pilot, Han Solo (Imperial Disguise), Tobias Beckett (Imperial Disguise)
75212 – Kessel Run Millennium Falcon Minifigures: Qi’Ra, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian, Quay Tolsite, Kessel Operations Droid, DD-BD
75207 – Imperial Patrol Battle Pack Minifigures: Imperial Officer, Death Star Trooper (Female), Stormtroopers (2)
First things first – what does it tell us about those new characters?
Woody Harrelson previously revealed that his character’s name was ‘Beckett’ and now it looks as though the new LEGO sets have confirmed his full name – Tobias Beckett. That’s not all – it also looks as though Han and his mentor, Beckett might even be attempting a daring theft of an Imperial TIE Fighter. Just look at the LEGO minifigure descriptions – they’re listed as wearing ‘Imperial Disguises’. I’m guessing they’re either stealing a TIE for themselves or sneaking aboard one for a daring escape.
Emilia Clarke’s character finally has a name, too. Throughout the production, it’s been rumoured that she’s playing a character known as ‘Kira’… and as it turns out, that rumour was pretty close to the truth. It’s actually “Qi’Ra” and her minifigure comes bundled along with Han and a Corellian Hound as part of Han Solo’s Speeder set. Presumably, this means we’ll be spending some time on Han’s home planet of Corellia.
Thandie Newton has also been confirmed as playing Quay Tolsite… but for the time being, her character remains shrouded in mystery. But her minifigure is bundled in the Millennium Falcon set, so presumably she spends some time aboard the iconic vessel.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge will be playing new droid, DD-BD. Again, little is known about the character except that the new droid will again, spend some time aboard the Falcon.
And speaking of the Millennium Falcon…
It looks as though we’re going to see the iconic space vessel in its prime. That’s right, it’s no longer a hunk of space junk. The new Millennium Falcon set has been given new paintwork, bringing it more in line with the X-Wing’s from The Force Awakens. It’s a far more pristine white, with numerous blue panels and markings. Kinda cool, but I can’t help thinking that a brilliant white vessel isn’t exactly subtle for a smuggler.
And that’s not all…
The set itself is called ‘Kessel Run Millennium Falcon’. That’s right – it looks as though we might finally get to see the Millennium Falcon make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs.
But will it be Han Solo in the cockpit? For now, we’ll have to wait and see.
