It’s official – the first trailer for new Bond movie, SPECTRE has been de-classified… and has appeared online for the first time.
As you can see, it’s not quite the action-packed fayre we’d been expecting… but with filming still underway, there’s probably a good reason for that. But more importantly, this new trailer gives us a closer look at how SPECTRE fits into the new Bond franchise.
And it seems it all kicks off with some personal effects from Skyfall…
An old, burnt photograph seems to hint at Bond’s past… and while James is clearly one of the children in this photograph, who is the other? And does it link him to the villain of the piece – played by Christoph Waltz?
For now, we’ll have to wait and see… but there are plenty of other intriguing moments throughout.
Of course, we’re reintroduced to Mr White – played by Jesper Christenson – who was part of terror organisation Quantum in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. Quite how he fits into ‘SPECTRE’ remains to be seen… but could this be our first hint that Quantum becomes SPECTRE in the new movies?
And then there’s the big question – will Christoph Waltz actually play Blofeld?
We’re treated to a rather sinister scene including the Bond newcomer… and it’s very clear that he’ll be the baddie of the entire movie. But with images of a SPECTRE ring and rumours that he could play the classic Bond villain, we’re left guessing as to whether this rumour will actually turn out to be true.
Along with the trailer, we’re also given an official synopsis:
“A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.”
SPECTRE heads to cinemas on 23 October 2015.
